Amelia Lancaster originally trained as an architect and set
designer. The rigour of the architectural approach has informed her
photography. Her work can be highly manipulated and taking the
photograph is just one of many stages in creating the final picture;
for example, cross processing and colour saturation in the New York
series result in a visual quality more 'screen print' than 'photographic'.

Grey Score was in the biennial show at the East Wing of the
Coutauld Gallery and looks at rhythms of light and occupation within
the facade. Channel 4 interviewed her about this series when she
exhibited at ‘High Rise' (Trellic Tower). She did the 1st cover for
PIL magazine and her New York work was shown at ‘Impact' with
Magnum and Annie Liebovitz at the Old Saatchi Gallery in
September 2002. The Centrepoint series was shown at the
Proud (Central) Gallery in February 2004. Her work can also
be seen at www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk.

Amelia also does work on commission. All images on this site
are for sale, please contact her for prices and other details.
