The London Festival of Architecture 2020

Different shaped and coloured battered metal machinery heads lay scattered around the site. Each one such as ‘The Muncher’ and ‘The Grabber’ play a different role in the demolition and construction. Piles of rubble made up of small boulders from the original walls still have the remains of paint and wallpaper. Huge red urns carry these to the trucks. All the materials are separated and then recycled or reused on site.

I had arranged to exhibit these heads and urns along with other material I had collected from the demolition and construction site in The South Kilburn Energy Centre underneath the Durham and Gloucester site as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2020. This installation couldn’t go ahead due to the pandemic and only my prints were exhibited online. This is something I still hope to do.
